speed limit, driving, road law over

Driving Home

One of these days I was driving home; and when I drive, I tend to think a lot. I guess for me, it’s the best moment to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit. That day a very strong thought came into my mind: how blessed I was to drive and have my own car. Many times, we take these things for granted. And if one day they are taken away, we learn the great value they had when we had them.

Driving is one of my favorite things to do. I know it’s strange, but I do enjoy it. However, I have caught myself doing something many drivers tend to do. I’ve caught myself going over the speed limit. Let’s be honest; we have all done it once or twice or even more.

Seems like nowadays drivers don’t respect the speed limit, as if the road signs are there for nice decoration.  And it seems like most people just follow along! I wonder if we have perhaps become the same way with sin. We are so used to this world, that watching sin happen in a day-to-day basis has numbed us to the reality of it.

Every time I turn on the news, all I hear are awful things: kids killing their parents, parents raping their own kids, or students shooting schools. And we have become so desensitized to these heinous acts, that news like these don’t seem as shocking anymore. Our world is each day more and more saturated with sin and evil.

The bible is never wrong:

“At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.”  -Mathew 24:10-13

May our constant prayer be to not become numb to the sin of this world. Never get tired of praying for peace on this earth. If we can do something to make our society better let’s go ahead and do it. Don’t conform because others see wrong as the norm. Remember that this life is all about driving home to our ultimate destination, heaven. Pay attention to the speed limit and be that “one percent” that does obey it. I am pretty sure that at least one more person will follow along.
