Dirty Hands

I loved my childhood, I lived it to the fullest. Some of my best memories are about getting dirty with mud. Yes, I was that type of kid. I loved being outside! Most of the day I spent it outdoors.

I was born in Mexico in a city where the weather was mostly dry and hot, and the dirt was fresh and fun. I thought dirt and mud were the best things in the world! something like clay, but better. Of course, my mom wasn’t very happy when she had to wash my clothes and clean all that dirt off my nails.

As I reminisce about getting dirty during my childhood, it gets me thinking about how God created us from the mud.

God is just so awesome that He shows His love in every action. He could have said something like: “Let there be a man created” and boom! Adam would’ve appeared; I am sure God could have done that. But that wasn’t the way He chose to do it.  Instead, God knelt down, probably feeling the fresh dirt in His knees. He grabbed some dirt in His hands, and just like I used to make things out of mud, then molded Adam with his bare hands creating the human body.

“Then The Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being”

-Genesis 2:7

In other words, He got dirty for us literally, in every way. He did so in creation and through Jesus as well. A perfect Being who came to this dirty world as a Redeemer for His children. This just blows my mind; God is amazing and yet we still forget sometimes that He is willing to do it all for us.

Like the song written by John Mark McMillan that says: “He loves us, oh how He loves us, oh how He loves us” His love for us is everlasting.
