If you have ever been on an airplane flight you know that the experience is quite out of this world. I find it fascinating how many feet you can be above from the ground. Isn’t it amazing what science and engineers have come up with? However, as fun as flying might be, sometimes you get turbulence; which is something no one enjoys. The feeling of turbulence is unpleasant to say the least. Those minutes feel eternal, the thought of the plane crashing down comes to your mind, and the whole experience can be terrifying.
Let me share with you a story that impacted my life:
So this plane has been flying for a couple of hours. Suddenly the plane starts shaking. They announce turbulence over the speakers. It seems to be getting worse and worse. There are people screaming, and things falling all over the place. However, in the middle of the chaos a man notices a little girl reading a book, it seems odd that a girl her age is not scared. As the minutes pass by he keeps looking at that girl and all she does is keep on reading. Finally, the turbulence is over, the plane is back to its normal status. However, the man is full of curiosity he needs to ask that little girl why she remained so calm during the time of trouble.
The plane eventually lands. As the passengers are grabbing their luggage, he approaches the girl and says: “Honey, weren’t you scared during the turbulence? I was watching you and you remained calm during all those 20 minutes. Why?” And she replied: “Well you see, my dad is the pilot. Before I got in the plane, he told me: ‘This won’t be an easy flight, you might get be very scared, because it will seem as if it’s never going to stop, but I promise that we will make it home safe.’ I wasn’t afraid during the flight because my dad would never do anything to hurt me, I knew dad would take me home and he did”
You see, God never promised it would be easy to follow him.
He said things would be harder for those who do. The turbulence that you are going trough may seem eternal and scary; but remember, He will not do anything to hurt you. He promised to get us home safe, and He will. Trust Him. The turbulence won’t last forever.
