man's hand with question mark over a green background dealing with the uncertain

Dealing with the uncertain

Life is uncertain. Depending on temperament and personality, some struggle with uncertainty more than others.

We can feel uncertain about the future, about our health or about a social issue. We can feel uncertain about so many things, situations, and even people. In a life full of uncertainties, however, how reassuring is to know that we can be certain of this: God’s promises and love for us.

But how can you know you can trust them?

Because when God says something, He means it.

The Bible is full of beautiful promises. Even though God made these promises to people who lived a long time ago, they are also for you and for me, because His promises, just like Him are timeless. Now, just because the promises are there, it does not mean that we are never to experience hardship, unfortunately, because of the world we live in, that is not the case.

My favorite Bible promise is found in Isaiah 43:2

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze”

God never promises that we won’t have to walk through fires or pass through rivers, however, He promises that when we do, we won’t drown and we won’t burn, because He is with us all along. He is the certainty we can hold on to when things are uncertain.

You can face everything that is uncertain to you today knowing that a powerful God walks with you every step of the way, through every change and curve ball life throws at you, He’s there. Like one of my favorite worship songs says:

“Higher than the mountains that I face
Stronger than the power of the grave
Constant in the trial and the change
This one thing remains”

And that one thing is His unfailing love for you.

“ …  I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:20
