Love takes no shortcuts

Love does not take shortcuts. Instead, Love prefers to take the long way home.  When fast and easy seem like the reasonable, more convenient option, Love says: “No thanks, I’ll take my time.”

Love walks when others run, waits when others don’t, stays when everyone leaves and believes when no one else does.

Love doesn’t believe in cutting corners; never has, and never will.

Love hates the idea of playing mind games, which is why Love will never attempt to control or manipulate you. Never projecting incongruence, Love will always approach you with honesty and straightforwardness.

Love is a fan of verbs, eloquent in the silence, and bold but at the same time gentle.

Love cuts through the storm and dwells in the calm. Snow, hail, or rain aren’t obstacles for Love to reach you. Love takes risks, but always leads to safety. Love is a fire that burns through the soul, the flame that doesn’t hurt, but purifies and brings relief.

Love protects, comforts, elevates, inspires; respects and cherishes your individuality, your uniqueness, your essence.

Love is by nature giving and forgiving.

Love is committed, not flighty. Principle, not emotion. Love choses you, even when you don’t choose Love.

Love hopes, heals, restores, redeems. No matter what, no matter where, no matter who, no matter when, Love will never take the easy way out.

Proof of this is a gray Friday afternoon; when Love, hanging on a cross did not care about being exposed to the elements, the ridicule of a crowd, or the possibility of rejection. Instead, the only thing Love cared about was setting us free.

Because that is what Love does. Love sets you and I free. Without taking any shortcuts.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

-John 3:16
